Getting The Most Out Of Your Arena Workout
You may have heard that in order to achieve real fat burning and body conditioning, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes are where it’s at. you heard right! However, you may not have heard about some of the very simple ways to ensure you are getting the absolute most out of that body pumping effort you are putting in. Here are a few quick tips to make sure you maximise your workout to achieve the real long term results you are looking for.
1 LISTEN TO YOUR BODY
There is no better feeling than kicking off a new dedicated fitness routine and becoming committed to improving yourself. By all means try every class, push yourself to improve, and go the extra mile in those fat-burning bursts of exercise. However, it is important to listen to your body and be mindful of your limits. Recognise the difference between slacking and taking a much needed rest day to recover. Only you know how far you should push yourself, so you need to listen to your body and respect it.
2 BODY ISSUES OR INJURIES
If you have a current or recent injury, make sure you let your coach know. There are always variations you can take to avoid a certain muscle or joint, and making this minor adjustment can be that tiny difference required to ensure you can maintain your workout routine.
3 ARENA COACHES ARE AMAZING
One of the most amazing features of an Arena workout, is that not only are you surrounded by screens that demonstrate every exercise in detail, but you also have a dedicated coach who is there to help. If you are ever unsure, simply ask the question and your coach would be more than happy to help you.
4 WAIT, WHICH WEIGHT?
Some classes require weight lifting to develop strength and condition in the body. It is always best practice to start off on a lighter weight and work your way up. If you are unsure what weight is right for you, ask your coach for guidance. As your strength improves with attendance, you may wish to increase resistance and add more weight to the mix.
5 HOW MANY CLASSES IS TOO MANY?
When it comes to fitness, it is never a one size fits all. However, as a general rule of thumb 3-4 classes per week is a good goal to aim for to really achieve results while avoiding burnout. of course there will always be your occasional superhero who can manage to do 6 classes a week and maintain it. We take our hats off to you whoever you are!
6 HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE
Though it is important to bring water to your class, if you have not had anything to drink in the hours leading up to it, you may be behind before you have even started! It is very important to drink 2-3 litres of water a day when HIIT is part of your regime. Your body loses a lot of water through sweat in these sessions, which feels amazing, we know! However, to ensure you maintain your energy levels and immune strength, the clear stuff is a must.
7 IMPROVING YOU
Although Arena Fitness has evolved over time from the world of MMA, it is important to remember that you are not actually against the person in front of you. It is important to appreciate that everyone has different capabilities and fitness levels, and to focus on your own improvement. Your goal for a class should be to do the best you can, with the capabilities you have on that given day.
